YOUR piece should sound good when played by YOUR band! The goal is to tailor-make the composition to fit the instrumentation, technical skill and musical strengths of your group. By working closely with each director, the Downbeat Design Team will create a show that makes the most of your strengths and minimizes your weaknesses. For the band, we will design woodwind parts in two layers: the parts for Flute 1, Clarinet 1, and Alto 1 will be harder than those for Flute 2, Clarinet 2 and Alto 2. Brass parts will be carefully scored to fit within realistic performance ranges for your students. Potential soloists will be identified based on your specific set of performers. Likewise, percussion parts will be designed to create an effective musical presentation based on the instruments and players you have available. Thoughtful, musical, sensible percussion scoring provided by our staff will make the entire season better! In the same manner, color guard work and drill design will be written specifically to utilize the visual vocabulary of your group.
